Staying afloat in stormy waters

Great morning Champs,

It’s Wednesday and halfway through the business week! Today I want to spend a few minutes writing on staying afloat in stormy waters. Recently I have doing on tweet series called Out lasting your storms and you can catch up with that by clicking on #AUspeaks …… the response and feedback has been amazing…and so I really want to take this further this great Wednesday morning. Come with me…

Storms would always come our way, it’s as natural as the breath that you take. Whether you have deep faith or not, rich or poor, black or white,…folks, storms will come your way. The Great news is that the storms don’t define you, rather the way you go through the storms will define you. Simply put…its not what you go through that really matters, its how you go through what you are going through that indeed really matters! That’s great news, i’d say….and that’s because it means you do have massive role to play in determining whether you stay afloat or you sink in stormy waters. Having a role to play means responsibility. You have a responsibility to win or learn in every situation…you have a responsibility to know how to use the waves and strong tides in your favour. That responsibility is yours, Champ!!

I had breakfast with a friend a couple of weeks back…he was going through so much stuff,a stagnated career, a cash flow trickle, nothing just seem to run as it should and this situation wasn’t peculiar to him….others in his organization were going through pretty much of the same situation as the firm was going through hell and high waters. Over this breakfast meeting,he told me of how a number of his colleagues had practically slipped in depression and the first question I asked him was why he didn’t come across to.me as being depressed too. He looked at me with a straight face, a set jaw line and with fire in eyes and said ” I believe strongly in the possibilities of better tomorrow and I have reached within myself to reassure myself that I have too much in me to end up like this!” the sheer power of belief.

Now note that these are people going through the same scenario in remarkably different ways. I can guarantee you that the Outcome would also be remarkably different as well. Here is why…..going into depression means fear has set in and you have succumbed to the fear, the fear paralyzes you mentally and inhibits from being creative, when you are not creative, you simply can’t think your way out of the box or come up with suitable solutions to whatever situation that has knocked you into depression in the first place!!! An unending cycle of misery!!!!! Now allow me to invite you to the other side!!! The other side….where you either win or learn! Where you know that no matter what you go through, somehow you are suitably positioned to overcome what you go through….where you have the right perspective which enables you  to think through your situation, and in thinking through the situation you find solutions that would help you and yes…wait for this……help others get through similar situations!!!! Amazing!

Keep your perspective right! Focus on all that you have within you and that,my friend,is a whole lot. You are a winner….a Champion..no matter what comes your way, stay afloat in stormy waters!

Keep walking #thepathwayofchampions

  1. This is the kind of “word” we need in this season. We all have to stay afloat in the midst of it all and make sure your approach to staying afloat must be well thought off and strategic… sure we will all come out better for it. After the rain comes the sunshine they say!!!

    Great post and well done.
